Levi Strauss & Co. - known by its shorthand name, Levi’s - is a global company with global roots. The company was founded in 1853. The founder and namesake of the company, Levi Strauss, was a German immigrant living in Bavaria and came over to San Francisco, California. He landed in California to open up the west coast branch of his brother’s dry goods business. His brother had a branch already in New York.

One of the business’s frequent customers, Jacob Davis, was a constant purchaser of denim cloth. He eventually had an idea about rivets and durability, but could not purchase the patent. He wrote to Strauss about the idea and proposed that they go into business together. They both realized the need for clothes that would endure anything. In 1873, the first Levi jeans were born.

The company grew in popularity due to the rise of jeans amongst different groups of people: cowboys, lumberjacks, railroad workers, hippies, greasers, mods, and rockers. Today, the company has around 2,800 company-operated stores, multiple brands, and serves worldwide. It is headquartered in its original birthing place - San Francisco, California. And of course, they make our favorite thing - leather jackets.

Type in your location (or the location you want to shop), and the site will let you know the closest stores that you can go to. At the time of this writing, we are in this COVID-19 pandemic, so the stores are all practicing public health and safety precautions. You can shop by appointment to avoid any lines. Levi’s is also encouraging shopping online for not only online delivery, but curbside pickup. Same day delivery is also something new that they are doing to decrease any risk while the pandemic is still gripping the world.
